Exercises in Refusal
Born from the disillusionment with the art world’s projected moral superiority and corresponding passivity in the face of genocide – this project is an attempt at challenging and ridiculing the curatorial and institutional requirements that shape the art world’s hierarchies and expectations through participatory practice, improvisation, and shared authorship.
The project aims to develop different ways of embodying refusal through different enactments of collective play and collaboration amongst “artists” and “non-artists.”
Developed alongside Omnia ElAmir during a shared studio residency at Al Riwaq Art Space, Bahrain.
